Group Care

Our group care sessions provide a supportive environment where students can explore new skills, enhance self-awareness, and share experiences with their peers. Each session includes a blend of informative presentations, group discussions, and practical strategy-building exercises. Groups are generally small ranging from 5-12 people. Group members are encouraged to participate in group discussions.

Coping Well

Struggling with stress, tough emotions, or navigating relationships? Join our Coping Well group, designed specifically for students who want to build effective coping strategies and thrive during their studies. Over four weeks, you’ll learn practical skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) that can help you manage your thoughts, emotions, and daily challenges. Here’s what you’ll gain:

  1. Mindfulness: techniques for staying present and focused in the moment.
  2. Distress tolerance: strategies for handling difficult emotions and stressful situations without getting overwhelmed.
  3. Emotion regulation: tools for managing intense emotions and preventing them from spiraling. 
  4. Interpersonal effectiveness: skills for confidently expressing your needs and setting boundaries in your relationships.

Running weekly for 4 weeks on Mondays from 2 to 3:30 p.m., in Thames Hall rm. 3189.

Dates: February 23 and March 2, 9, & 16

To get the most out of this group, attendance at all 4 sessions is required.

Grief & Loss Support Group

This 6-week group is is dedicated to offering compassion and support to individuals navigating the difficult journey of grieving the loss of a loved one. In this non-judgmental space, we will explore ways to move through the grieving process, strategies to manage the complex emotions associated with loss, and find ways to maintain a meaningful connection with your loved one. Our aim is to foster a healing community where you can find emotional support, connection, validation, and receive education as well as strategies to help you cope with the grieving process.

Weekly sessions on Fridays from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on the following dates: Feb 6, 13, 27 and March 6, 13, 20. in Thames Hall rm. 3189. Please note: no session during reading week.

Group for International Students

Our Group for International Students offers a way for you to connect and share with others as well as a place to find support for the issues that affect you as a student at 桃子视频 and in Canada.  We will be offering a range of session topics.

Snacks and drinks will be available! Please come and join us for as many or as few sessions as your schedule allows.

Running biweekly on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Thames Hall rm 3175-3176.

Journey Together: Group for Black & Racialized students

Join Journey Together: Sharing Our Lived Experiences, a support group for Black and Racialized Students. This wellness group aims to create a safe and healing space to share race-related lived experiences including race-related stress, navigating environments, renewal and care. Together in sharing our common lived experiences, we draw a collective voice to:

  • not feel alone
  • process and learn from each other's wisdom
  • create a community to uplift and support one another
  • empower through collective healing, growth, and transformation

This group will be co-facilitated by two counsellors from Health & Wellness Services who are themselves persons from racialized backgrounds.

Running virutally Bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following dates: February 10 & 24 and March 10 & 24, and April 7. Students can register throughout the term. For more information, please email health@uwo.ca.

Once signed up, a group facilitator will contact you to do an individual intake which will provide an opportunity to discuss details of the group more fully.

Purple Man's Support Group: Redefining Strength and Connection

This group offers a safe, supportive space for male students to reflect on what it truly means to be a man today, beyond stereotypes and social expectations. We’ll explore how masculinity, emotional health, and relationships intersect in everyday life.

Together, we’ll talk about how men cope with pressure, express emotions, and build genuine confidence and connection. It’s a space to be real, to listen, and to grow, both as individuals and as brothers in the journey toward healthier, more authentic living.

Open to all male-identifying students.

2nd-Gen Circle: Women Connecting Through Stories

This is an in-person, women’s support and wellness group for students who have lived experiences with immigrant parents. The group‘s purpose is to create a supportive and affirming space to share and process experiences of growing up and navigating life with immigrant parents and/or caregivers and of living between multiple cultural worlds.

In sharing lived experiences, we give our stories voice to:

  • not feel alone in our experiences
  • learn from each other’s wisdom
  • empower through personal growth and understanding
  • affirm and validate each other’s feelings, experiences, and development

This group will be co-facilitated by two Mental Health Counsellors from Health & Wellness Services who themselves are women who have lived experience with immigrant parents.

Running weekly on Wednesdays: February 4, 11, 25 and March 4 
Time: 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm
Location: Thames Hall, Room TBA

Students can register throughout the term.

Queer Connections

A 90-minute group bringing in relevant topics, discussion, and mutual support for students who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and other diverse sexual orientations and gender identities) community.

Running bi-weekly on Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. in Thames Hall rm 3118.

Dates: January 15 & 29, February 12 & 26, March 12 & 26, and April 9.

Relationship Basics (for female & non-binary identified students)

This four-week group will focus on building blocks of healthy relationships. This group will explore characteristics of healthy relationships, effective communication, conflict management, and the complexities of boundary setting across diverse types of relationships. Each participant will take home their own copy of ‘The Set Boundaries Workbook’ by Nedra Glover Tawwab.

Running for 4 weeks (February 26 and March 5, 12 & 19) on Thursdays from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in Thames Hall rm. 3175.

  1. Once logged in, Under Reason for Visit, select Other and click Continue.
  2. For Visit Type, select Group Visit. A list of available groups will appear based on the group titles above.
  3. Select the group you would like to join and enter your contact information.
  4. Click Submit Request to confirm your registration.
